Recovery community offers resources

PARKERSBURG — Despite the canceling of meetings and other gatherings, the recovery community still has other resources and people available to help them.

Patrice Pooler, executive director of the Mid-Ohio Valley Fellowship Home, said its clients are staying on track by spending quality time together, playing board games and watching videos on the subject of recovery.

“All of their outside programming has been canceled; we’re doing things in the house and keeping the programming going and keeping it focused on recovery,” Pooler said.

Pooler advises all members of the recovery community to stay on base, read through all recovery program materials and stay in close contact with a recovery support system.

“Remember that when an alcoholic or an addict talks to one another, recovery happens, God shows up. They can always call us; we’re still that community resource by phone,” Pooler said.

Westbrook Health Services has also “been on high alert in regards to client care as well as protecting our staff,” its website said.

They are working to cross train their staff so they can continue to provide care to the clients.

“We are evaluating and increasing our TeleHealth Network to allow clients to attend appointments from home when feasible,” its website said.

The Wirt County Quick Response and Recovery Team is restricting meetings to current clients only; however, its Facebook page has other resources and they are looking into doing virtual meetings.

“All of our staff will still be available to help anyone in need via phone. We will continue to do everything in our power to help anyone who is ready to make a life change,” its Facebook page said.
