Wood County judge spends time on West Virginia Supreme Court
CHARLESTON — Wood County Circuit Court Judge Robert Waters sat on the state Supreme Court of Appeals this week to hear an argument in an appeal in a custody case.
Arguments in the case, which appeals a family court’s order allocating custodial responsibility, were heard Wednesday. Waters replaced Justice John Hutchison, who recused himself.
A Parkersburg native, Waters was in private practice from 1979 to 1992 and served as an assistant Wood County prosecutor from 1979-82 and 1989-92. He was elected to the bench in 1992 and subsequently re-elected in 2000, 2008 and 2016.
