PARKERSBURG — Students and volunteers gathered Thursday at Fairplains Elementary School for the annual Fraction Kitchen cooking and math event.

Third-grade students learn math and measuring while preparing recipes with the help of adults and student volunteers. Each student receives an apron and a cookbook as part of the event.

This year, the school had parents, grandparents, church volunteers and students from Parkersburg South High School helping with Fraction Kitchen.
