CSX investigating Wood County fatality

WASHINGTON, W.Va. — A fatal accident involving a train was being investigated Saturday in Washington, W.Va.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. along the railroad tracks near Dupont Road near the DuPont-Chemours plant site.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office and Washington Bottom Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene, but the accident is being investigated by CSX since it occurred on the company’s property.

A statement sent to The Parkersburg News and Sentinel on Saturday evening stated: “A CSX employee was fatally injured following an incident involving a train (Saturday) near Parkersburg, W.Va. CSX extends our deepest sympathy to the family, friends and co-workers of the individual. The incident is currently under investigation.”
