Starr speaks at Wood County Day

PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Day at Marietta College dinner and planning meeting was held Sept. 10.

Erica Starr, assistant director of alumni relations and volunteer programs at Marietta College, spoke to the local alumni group about Wood County Day at Marietta College set for Oct. 26. Wood County Day will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. with lunch and auctions before the Marietta College-John Carroll football game at 1:30 p.m. at Don Drumm Stadium.

Starr said the 2019 Wood County Day event is posted on the college’s website at marietta.edu/alumni/events.

Rocky Peck said auction items for Wood County Day can be turned in to Gene Haynes’ State Farm Office on Emerson Avenue in Parkersburg. Peck said auction items can include art, jewelry, collectibles, wine, time shares or gift certificates from restaurants. The 2019 Commemorative Coin will be auctioned at the game.

Gene Haynes of Parkersburg is being recognized during Marietta College Homecoming Weekend with the Liz Tribbet Award as the Outstanding Alumnus who has served the college and community. His award ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 12 at 10:30 a.m.
