Man arraigned on attempted murder charge

PARKERSBURG — Noble Gibson, 39, homeless, was arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court Sunday on an attempted murder charge against his wife.

According to the criminal complaint, the two have been separated for over a year.

The criminal complaint said that on Sunday night, the victim was taking out trash when she saw Gibson and attempted to run back into the home.

Gibson reached the house first, so she then tried to run to the neighbor’s house, when she was tackled and struck with an unknown sharp object, according to the charges. The complaint states the neighbor ran out and chased Gibson off with a baseball bat and the victim was transported to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center.

The victim received more than 10 stab wounds, including to areas of the chest, neck, arms, face and back, officials said.

The victim had previously reported to the Washington County sheriff that she had received threatening texts from Gibson and he had been showing up at their children’s school during pick-up time and hiding around vehicles.

Gibson is being held at the North Central Regional Jail on a $200,000 surety bond.
