Ravenswood team places fourth in state

Photo Provided At the 91st annual FFA State Convention several students from Ravenswood High School received their State Farmer Degree. Those students were Patrick Francis, Whitney Pifer, Brooke Whited, Georgia VanFosson, Adam Hoschar and Kaylin Butler. One student, Ben Smith, received the State Star Farmer Award and was recognized as a candidate for the 2019 American FFA Farmer Degree. CEDAR LAKES — The 91st annual West Virginia FFA State Convention was held recently at Cedar Lakes in Jackson County.

Statewide the organization has 6,469 members in 83 chapters. This past year FFA in the state has grown by 1,100 students, officials said.

The Ravenswood High School FFA Land Judging team, under the direction of teacher Jason Miihlbach, placed fourth in the state. In Land Judging Kaitlin Murray placed sixth and Sarah Smith placed ninth.

In Home Site Judging Jasmine Naylor placed sixth and Kaitlin Murray placed ninth. Students on the team are Jacob Mattox, Sarah Smith, Jasmine Naylor and Kaitlin Murray.
