UPDATE: Stabbing victim identified

UPDATE: Police have released the name of the man fatally stabbed Tuesday on Avery Street in Parkersurg.

Police Chief Joe Martin says the victim was 40-year-old Travis Shane Peters of 2903 Avery St.

Chester Robert Lilly was arraigned this afternoon on one charge of murder and one charge of failure to register as a sex offender. He was remanded to the North Central Regional Jail without bond. An initial hearing will be held within 10 days, officials said.

PARKERSBURG – Parkersburg police say a man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing on Avery Street Tuesday.

Chester Robert Lilly, 31, of 2900 Avery St., Parkersburg, turned himself into authorities this morning and will be arraigned this afternoon in Wood County Magistrate Court on a charge of murder.

Lilly is accused of stabbing a man Tuesday at 2903 Avery St. The victim, who has not yet been publicly identified, was found dead on scene when first responders arrived shortly after noon.

Lilly is a registered sex offender and was convicted in 2009 on a charge of third-degree sexual abuse.
