PARKERSBURG — Parkersburg High School drivers education students participated in a series of activities Thursday designed to highlight the dangers of impaired or distracted driving.

The annual program challenged the students to maneuver golf carts on the track at Stadium Field through a series of obstacles, first while wearing “drunk goggles” which simulate impaired driving and then while sending texts on their phones. Cones represented everything from mailboxes to parked cars to pedestrians, and illustrated how easy it is to make a lifelong mistake behind the wheel of an automobile.
