Vienna tennis tournament raises funds for American Red Cross

VIENNA — Last weekend’s charity indoor tennis tournament at Greenmont Racquet Club raised over $800 for the local chapter of the American Red Cross.

The non-sanctioned event, Jan. 5-7, was designed to provide local tennis players of every level a chance to compete. Sixty-eight people played in the tournament.

Winners were mixed doubles, Jeff Herring and Heidi Asbury; women’s singles, Lisa Roberts; boys 19 singles, Nash Morris; women’s doubles group A, Lisa Roberts and Jeannie Schade; women’s doubles group B, Mandy Kupfner and Megan Duncan; girls 14 and under singles, Lakyn Campbell; men’s doubles, Max Hilton and Sam Hilton; girls 14 doubles, Lakyn Campbell and Taylor Islay; boys 16 singles, Jaxsen Ranson; and boys 14 singles, Seth Rowh.

It was a one set non-elimination format.
