Parkersburg News and Sentinel Job Fair set for Friday

PARKERSBURG — Prospective employers and job seekers will meet at The Parkersburg News and Sentinel’s Job Fair on Friday at Grand Pointe Conference Center in Vienna.

There are 25 companies and organizations signed up to participate in the event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the center, 1500 Grand Central Ave. in Vienna near Lowe’s.

“We wanted to help employers find candidates, especially for those hard to fill positions, and help job seekers find jobs,” said organizer Mary Jo Miller. “People should bring an updated resume and dress for success. There will be companies accepting resumes, providing applications and doing on the spot interviews.”

Applicants will have the chance to talk to a wide range of employers, submit resumes and network with others in attendance.

Among the companies and organizations participating are ResCare, Primecare Medical, Amedisys, United Talent, Sunset Funeral Home, VIP Kid, DHL Supply Chain, Crittenton Services, ST & E Transport, Heartland of Marietta, Carehaven, Westbrook Health Services, Doss Enterprises, Hi-Vac, Molemasters, The Galley, Promanco, Yellow Taxi, ECM Energy, Universal Pressure Pumping, PlyGem, SimEx, Serco Trucking, Simonton Windows, Camden Clark Medical Center, Alliance Industries, Eagle Pointe, McClinton Chevrolet and Magnum Magnetics.

Companies will be hiring for a variety of positions.

There is no admission fee. And there is plenty of parking.

During the Job Fair, each company will have its own presentations.

“They will be accepting applications and resumes at their own booths,” Miller said. “People need to be ready for possible on-site interviews.”

Tables will be set up for job seekers to fill out the applications. A room will be set up for interviews between employers and prospective employees.

Refreshments will be available, as people need a break between talking with one another or waiting for a booth to clear out, Miller said.

“A Job Fair is a great way for employers and job seekers to come together in one location for the purpose of applying and interviewing for jobs,” Miller said. “It is also convenient for job seekers to meet with several companies in one afternoon.”
