PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Democratic Party will host a “Righteous Rhythms and Rockin’ Rights at the River” fundraiser on Friday at the Ohio Valley Rowing Club, 2201 Keever St., Parkersburg.
The event will feature the music of the Carpenter Ants from Charleston. Their music blends soul, gospel, rhythm and blues with a touch of country and rock.
“The Carpenter Ants having been entertaining folks for over 30 years,” party Chairman Jeff Fox said. “You will not find a tighter knit group of accomplished musicians that provide such a melting pot of music genres.”
The food will follow a southwestern vibe including a taco station with all the fixings for beef, chicken and vegetarian tacos. On the side will be cowboy caviar, a cool salad featuring black beans, corn, tomatoes, onions, peppers and more. Chips with cheese dip and a dessert table will round out the offerings. Lemonade and ice tea will be the drink options, but attendees may bring their own cooler/drinks as well.
Attendees are asked to bring a folding camp chair.
“We are going for a picnic vibe, on a nice summer evening. We’ll have great music and good food; folks can have a little fun and relax,” Fox said. “There’s a chance of rain every afternoon this week; we’re planning for that, and the building is big enough to allow some indoor setup options with an open air feel.”
A $10 donation is recommended and can be made online at https://secure.actblue.com/donate/rocking. Guests can also pay at the door.
