PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg Homecoming Festival committee has announced the three-day festival’s entertainment and event line-up.
With a new president on the committee, the festival is back to three days packed with fun festivities for everyone to enjoy.
The homecoming will take place from Aug. 15-17 with kick-off events starting the week before. To commence homecoming, a pickleball clinic and tournament is scheduled for Aug. 8-9 at City Park, the exact times haven’t been released.
“I’m excited to lead Homecoming this year and continue to keep it going,” President Bob Mercer said. “It has been a great annual event for over 40 years that has seen national entertainment come to our town and I want to see it continue to grow.”
Homecoming starts on Friday, Aug. 15, with the annual “Kids Fest” and the opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. Insured Sound will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a performance at 6:45 p.m. followed by country parody comedian Cledus T. Judd at 8:30 p.m. Judd will perform hits like “My Cellmate Thinks I’m Sexy,” “How Do You Milk A Cow,” “If Shania Was Mine” and more.

Saturday will begin at 12:30 p.m. with the annual Market Street parade followed by the Dachshund Races at Point Park, High Passion Wrestling, arts and crafts, vendors and more entertainment.
The festivities will continue with the 23rd annual Johnny Staats Bluegrass Festival starting at 4 p.m. The bluegrass festival will feature Appalachian Hollow, the Johnny Staats Project and Johnny Staats & The Delivery Boys.
The Ohio Valley Opry will perform at 8:30 p.m. with fireworks following at 10 p.m. to conclude the second day of the festival.
The events on Sunday will commence with a Gospel Sing by Local Churches at 2 p.m. followed up by 3M Acoustic Trio scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
“This has always been our biggest fundraiser for entertainment and it will honor our late president Woody Miller for his dedication to keeping it alive,” said Vice President Chuck Lipps.
