PARKERSBURG — The local Shimmy Mob group will be belly dancing for a cause Saturday at Point Park.

Shimmy Mob Team Parkersburg WV, part of the international Shimmy Mob, will collect donations for the Family Crisis Intervention Center at the event, slated for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Point Park Amphitheater.

The local group had been preparing for a performance to coincide with World Belly Dance Day on May 10 but had to reschedule due to illness. Co-leader Josie Rabatin said five dancers will be performing.

The goal of the event is to raise awareness of domestic violence and emotional abuse and collect monetary donations, as well as hygienic items and cleaning supplies for the Family Crisis Intervention Center and its shelter residents.
