MINERAL WELLS — The Scouts of Mt. Pleasant held their second annual car show at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells on Saturday.

There were 23 entries which was about 10 cars less than last year, according to Brandon Amos who is the scoutmaster of Troop 86. Also on display were motorcycles, dirt bikes, and dune buggies sponsored by All Season Powersports.

All Season Powersports and Eco Comfort HVAC were the biggest sponsors for the car show and were recognized during the awards.

“This is our larger fundraiser that we’ve been doing annually,” said Amos. “Then we have some smaller ones throughout the year like our Wendy’s Night.”

Amos said that despite the threat of rain, they had a decent turn-out. He decided that going forward, they would make a backup plan for next year’s car show in case it rains.

Regardless of the difference in car entries compared to last year, Amos said they still raised roughly the same amount of money.

“All of the money goes towards supporting the 14 boys for them to go to summer camp,” said Amos. “Our main goal is to support them.”

All of the money raised from the car show went towards the Mineral Wells Boy Scout Troop 86. The money will help fund the troop and pay for outings and for their upcoming summer camp.

“It’s really great getting to see the community show up,” said Amos.

Boy Scout Troop 86 currently has 14 boys and is accepting more who are interested in joining. Troop 86 of Mt. Pleasant meets every Thursday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at 62 Turkeyfoot Road, Mineral Wells. Scouts BSA is for youth ages 11-17.
