PARKERSBURG — Discovery World on Market’s activities this weekend include a live, sold-out show with Space Gal Emily Calandrelli, a National Teacher Day celebration and Star Wars Day at the museum.
“Tales and Adventures from the 100th Woman in Space” features Calandrelli, a West Virginia native, walking the audience through her journey to space, including the failures, milestones and life lessons along the way. The show, slated for 3 p.m. Saturday in the Parkersburg Art Center Ballroom, sold out in two days. No tickets will be sold at the door.
Discovery World on Market will also be celebrating National Teacher Day, offering discounted admission for all teachers from Saturday through Aug. 10.
On Sunday, the museum will celebrate Star Wars Day (May the Fourth) with space-themed activities. Included with admission to the museum, kids can enjoy a Meet and Greet with Star Wars characters from the Order of Centauri Prime, a mini space-themed Lego build-off, a Star Wars paper airplane competition and more. For an additional fee, children can register for a DIY lightsaber class. The Hangry House and Kona Ice food trucks will be set up selling their goods to guests.
