It’s a Fine Life: Actors Guild of Parkersburg brings Dickens’ classic to life with ‘Oliver!’

PARKERSBURG — “Oliver!” — based on Charles Dickens’ classic novel “Oliver Twist” — opens Friday, April 25, at the Actors Guild of Parkersburg.
The musical runs through May 11 with performances scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays with with Sunday matinees over three weekends.
“Oliver!” is an adaptation of Dickens’ 1833 story about the travails of an orphan who gets mixed up with a London gang of juvenile thieves led by Fagan. Twist eventually learns of his lineage and is reunited with the rest of his family in London.
The cast includes:
* Benjamin Kiger as the orphan Oliver Twist.
* James Hughes as Fagan, the scheming ringleader of a band of pickpocketing boys.
* William Stone as the Artful Dodger, a street-smart teen who introduces Oliver to Fagan’s gang
* Alyssa Russell as Nancy, the spirited and tragic woman torn between love and loyalty.
* Robert Francis as Bill Sikes, a menacing criminal with a violent temper.
* Beretta Spurrier as Bet, Nancy’s loyal friend who shares her heart for the boys.
“Oliver!” is directed by David Rexroad. Musical director is Marsha Parsons, and choreographer is Morgan Fernow. Among the songs in the show are “Food, Glorious Food;” “Consider
Yourself;” “I’d Do Anything;” and “As Long as He Needs Me.”

Performance Dates are 8 p.m. April 25, April 26, May 2, May 3, May 9 and May 10, 2:30 p.m. April 27 and May 11 and 6 p.m. May 4.
