PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg Art Center is hosting a pair of arts-related events Saturday at the center at Eighth and Market streets.
The PAC is inviting families to explore the many creative opportunities available in the Mid-Ohio Valley during its annual free community arts event called Art-O-Rama on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This event brings together local arts, nature, and STEAM organizations for a day filled with hands-on activities, demonstrations, and entertainment.
This year’s event will feature multiple make-and-take crafting stations where visitors can create their own artwork to take home. Attendees will also be able to watch live demonstrations of wood carving and pottery, engage in science activities, and participate in nature studies.
Live music will add to the atmosphere, and a large Lego construction zone will provide an interactive space for building and display of finished pieces. A snack station will be available for guests to enjoy, and at the end of the event, two drawings will be held for free weeks of Camp Creativity.
Several local organizations will be on-site to offer creative fun, including Discovery World on Market, Artsbridge, ArtBeat Studio, Mid-Ohio Valley Ballet, and the West Virginia Symphony at Parkersburg. Freedom Carvers will showcase their craft, while the Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg and the Parkersburg YMCA will offer activities.
The Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge will bring elements of nature study, and Downtown PKB will be on hand to help visitors launch paper airplanes. Williamstown Strings, the Clay Studio at the PAC, and the Art Center’s staff and volunteers will also contribute to the day’s events.
The Art-O-Rama is designed to bring families together in a creative environment, offering an opportunity to connect with the many resources available in the area.
Also happening on Saturday is the Y’Art Sale in the Parkersburg Art Center’s ballroom. This large sale features a wide variety of donated items, including framed art, prints, frames, art supplies, dishware, books, seasonal decor, gently used children’s toys, Strider bikes, games, Kreinik Manufacturing thread, clear packing supply boxes and bags, and much more. The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, with an exclusive preview event for PAC members on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
