PARKERSBURG — Ellen Knotts is the featured artist at WesBanco Bank during March with her oil paintings.
Knotts has been painting for over 30 years and studied with local artist Tom Stahl.
The Ellen Knotts March art exhibit may be viewed at WesBanco Bank, 415 Market St., during regular business hours of Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Knotts’ love for oil painting began at the age of 14 when her teachers from Warren High School, Sandra and Sylvia Young, inspired her to express herself through art. She gave up painting to pursue a career in real estate for a number of years, but after retirement she returned to her love of painting by taking classes again from Stahl
Knott paints strictly in oil. The slow drying time allows an artist to blend colors seamlessly on the canvas.
“I like to paint African animals, horses, old toys, and landscapes. In art, the hand can never execute anything higher than the heart can imagine,” said Knotts.
Knotts has previously exhibited her paintings at Stahl’s Nursery and Christmas Shop, Rivertown Art Studio, Barlow Public Library, Artsbridge and with several local businesses.
