Dinner With the Docs panel to focus on diabetes

VIENNA — The topic of diabetes will be the focus of the next Dinner with the Docs at 6 p.m. March 24 at the Grand Pointe Conference Center, 1500 Grand Central Ave., Vienna.

“Connecting the Dots: the Impact of Diabetes on Your Health” will discuss the impacts made by the chronic condition and prevention, treatment and management methods available. The expert panel will include physicians of ranging medical specialties. Vince McClosky, vice president of Ambulatory Services, will be the moderator with Chief Operating Officer Duke Rupert providing a welcome and opening of the evening’s discussion.

The event will also raise awareness of kidney disease during National Kidney Month in March and the prevalence among those living with diabetes. Dr. Siddharth Verma, nephrologist, will provide insights on the link between diabetes and kidney disease.

The panel will include: Verma, nephrology; Dr. Michael Cheshire, internal medicine and primary care; Dr. Mohit Srivastava, vascular surgery; Dr. Sindhura Ravindra; endocrinology; and Dr. Christian Valle, podiatry and podiatric surgery.

Guests also will have the opportunity to purchase low-cost lab work vouchers made available as a service project by the Rotary Club of Parkersburg. Upon purchase, the low-cost lab work vouchers may be redeemed at select Camden Clark laboratory locations.

Vouchers will be available for $43 and $50 for women and men, respectively, including the following screenings:

* Women — basic metabolic panel (BMP) (fasting); basic metabolic panel (BMP) (non-fasting); hemoglobin A1c (HBA1c, diabetes); lipid (cholesterol) panel; TSH: thyroid stimulating hormone

* Men — basic metabolic panel (bmp) (fasting); basic metabolic panel (BMP) (non-fasting); hemoglobin A1c (HBA1c, diabetes); lipid (cholesterol) panel; prostate specific antigen (PSA) (total); TSH: thyroid stimulating hormone
