Kootaga District serves up awards at recognition dinner

MINERAL WELLS — The Kootaga District, Buckskin Council, held its annual recognition dinner Feb. 13 at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells.
Hosting this year’s dinner was Troop 86, which meets at Mt. Pleasant UMC. Over 75 Scouts from all over the Kootaga District gathered for an evening of food and fellowship. All the 2024 Eagles Scouts from the district were recognized as well.
The award winners were:
* Cub Scout Rookie of the Year Award — Scott Petterson, Pack 12
* Boy Scout Rookie of the Year Award — Lauren Petterson, Troop 12
* Cub Scout Spirit Award — Keith Smith, Pack 30
* Boy Scout Spirit Award — Angela Curfman, Troop 43
* Cubmaster of the Year Award — Bethany Place, Pack 129
* Scoutmaster of the Year Award — Jon Neff, Troop 91
* Old Timer’s Award — Kelly Campbell, Troop 20
* Whispering Oak Award — Pickering Associates
* Tex Adams Scouting Skills Award — Christopher Burk, Troop 12
* Shorty Matheny Granite Award — John Sheppard, Pack and Troop 20
The Kootaga District serves Scouts and volunteers in Wood, Jackson, Wirt, Roane, Ritchie, and Calhoun counties in West Virginia and the communities of Belpre, Little Hocking, and Coolville in Ohio.
