PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg Art Center will host an Exhibit Opening Reception on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at 725 Market St.

This event will feature a variety of artwork, including paintings by Dan Hilford, ceramic pieces by the PAC Potters, and creations from the Art and Calligraphy Society.

Guests will enjoy appetizers, a selection of special wines available at a cash bar, and the opportunity to meet the artists. Artist Sharon Hanse will also give a live calligraphy demonstration during the evening.

The main and mezzanine galleries will showcase “Eight Miles High” by Hilford, a California-based artist known for his large-scale paintings inspired by the ocean and sky. His work uses vibrant colors and dynamic textures, created with brushes, palette knives, and acrylic pours.

Also featured in the galleries is “The Clay Zombies” by the PAC Potters, a collection of ceramic creations from members of the PAC Clay Studio Cooperative. This exhibit highlights the creativity and craftsmanship of over 40 local potters, including bowls, vessels, and other unique pieces.

This event is free for exhibiting artists, PAC members, and children, with a $10 entry fee for non-members. Guests can enjoy complimentary appetizers and beverages available for purchase at the cash bar.

After the reception, the exhibits will be open to the public during the Art Center’s regular hours, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Due to a sponsorship from WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center, admission to the gallery will be free during this time.
