MARIETTA — A first baby of the year 2025 was born at Marietta Memorial Hospital Wednesday morning.

Jayce Saunders was born at 10:42 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025, to Jaedyn Cook and Kyle Saunders of Logan, Ohio.

This is the couple’s second child. They already have a son named Jaxson, who is just under 2 years old.

Jaedyn said they did not plan to have a baby on New Year’s Day, but that was how it worked out as the baby was delivered by C-section and this was the time they ended up being scheduled for.

“It just kind of happened,” she said. “I didn’t get to pick the date obviously.

“We did not expect it at all (the baby being born on New Year’s Day).”
