PARKERSBURG — The Blennerhassett Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated its 75th anniversary on Oct. 26 at Jimmy Columbo’s in Parkersburg.

The celebration included distinguished guests: Honorary Vice President General Melinda (Mindy) Davis; Honorary State Regent Charla Nutter McNaboe; and State Regent Jane Larke. The room was decorated with chapter memorabilia and information about 1949.

Regent Cathy Hinkle welcomed guests and members. Chaplain Ashley Burgess gave the invocation.

For the program Chapter Historian Mary Ellen Brown presented a history on the chapter and segments of past meeting minutes.

The chapter was founded on Oct. 4, 1949, at the home of Mrs. Curtis O. Harper, the residence that is today known as the Phelps Tavenner House, Wood County’s first courthouse. The chapter started with 12 members and by 1950 had grown to 22.
