MARIETTA — The Mid-Ohio Valley Jr. Players return with “The Creepy Creeps of Pilgrim Road” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Players Theatre, 229 Putnam St.

Tickets are $10 and are available at midohiovalleyplayers.com or at the box office beginning 90 minutes before each show.

The family Creeps of Edible Falls every year enter the All-American Street Contest and every year Pilgrim Road loses. Tarantula and her husband Sinbad are the owners of Creep Mansion, where the Gothic-style house doesn’t fit in with the other homes on their road.

Neighbor Flora Limetree has her eyes on the prize and will make sure the Creeps don’t ruin her chance at victory. Throw in a visiting prince, pet crocodiles, a talking painting and a pirate treasure to get a musical comedy.

Junior Players are actors ages 8-16. Long time Junior Players director Kay Doak chose the show because of the music and the variety of characters.

“There’s a lot of kids who worked hard and there’s some new ones who are making so much progress,” she said.

Sophie Yoke plays Sally, Sinbad’s niece, who is usually seen with her friends, writer Matt and Scooter, who has a crush on her.

“My character is different from the rest of the Creeps because she’s more normal,” she said.

The show marks Yoke’s first time on stage, but she already plans to audition for other local plays.

“I’ve been having a lot of fun,” Yoke said.

Caleb McClung returns to the stage as Mortimer Weird.

“He’s a creepy little guy who showed up at the Creeps house and is staying as a boarder,” McClung said. “He gets to do a lot of fun stuff. I like getting to do a large variety of roles and this one is dissimilar from others I’ve done.”

McClung is 16 this year. The show marks his final Junior Players play.

“I’ve had a lot of fun and I’ve made a lot of friends,” he said. “I’m sad to see this go but I’m happy to be in different and more adult shows.”

Dorothy Evalena Clark portrays Nana, Sinbad’s mother.

“She’s a very lovely and explosive character who ends up having an unexpected romance with houseguest Mortimer,” said Clark, who is excited for people to see the show.

“People should see this because it is hilarious and people will love it,” she said. “This show has given opportunities to actors who are here for the first time and it would mean so much for everyone to come watch.”
