PARKERSBURG — Four local musicians have released their first EP.
“Just Like Before” by the band Delta has been released to all the major streaming platforms including Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube.
The members of the band composed of Brett Anderson, Rob Howard, Dave Cole and Aaron Riggins have been playing together as Delta for about 18 months, but each has been in the local music scene for more than 30 years, Anderson, the drummer, said. Cole plays guitar and Riggins is the bassist.
“This will be our first release as a group,” he said.
While the music is a collaboration, Howard, who plays guitar and is the lead vocalist of the group, wrote the songs.
The songs on the EP are “You Sold Me,” “Wait,” “Girlsong” and “Stay.” The release also includes a music video for “You Sold Me.”
Songs were inspired by events and people in the past, Howard said.
“The past. Definitely the past,” he said.
At 45-years old, Howard said he has much to look back to for material for his songs.
“Girlsong” was written in 2015 and is about an old girlfriend, Howard said. She knows it’s about her, too, he said.
“Yep,” Howard said.
Among the groups the veteran musicians have been members of were Egress, Porous, Liecus, The Torture Store, Horseburner and Some Kind of Strange.
“We’ve known each other since we were kids,” Anderson said.
The friendships started in elementary and junior high schools, Howard said.
“Brett is the oldest friend I have in the band,” Howard, a YouTube content creator in real life.
The band has performed throughout the region including at the Space Bar in Columbus. Delta will next perform on April 27 at Tracey’s Pub on Seventh Street in Parkersburg.
The members of the band would like to play more, but now have other responsibilities in their lives, Anderson said. Information about the band or scheduling is available by emailing deltabandwv@gmail.com.
“We’re a collection of middle-aged dads now with their kids,” he said. “We don’t get to make noise as much as we like.”
