Parkersburg Red Cross sets adult, pediatric first aid classes for early October

PARKERSBURG — The American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED and Instructor Blended Learning Safety classes will be offered in October at the American Red Cross’ Parkersburg office.

Classes offer two-year certification to those who successfully complete the courses.

The basic course will prepare participants to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. The blended learning course includes an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session.

The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high-speed Internet connection.

The Instructors course will train instructor candidates to teach basic-level American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED courses. Participants must possess a basic-level American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED or higher certification or equivalent and be at least 16 on the last day of the instructor course.

Upon successful completion of these courses, participants will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.

Classes are held at American Red Cross, 220 Eighth St., Parkersburg. Classroom skill session dates for the basic class 10-12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5. Instructors class will be 9-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6.

Prior registration is required for all classes and can be completed by calling 1-800-REDCROSS or by going online at www.redcross.org and click on training.
