Genealogy class at the Wood County Public Library

PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg and Wood County Public Library, 3100 Emerson Ave., will present a beginner genealogy class on Jan. 24.

Participants may choose one of two sessions. The first class is from 1 to 4 p.m. and the second is from 5 to 8 p.m.

Each class will discuss why someone is interested in genealogy, documents, forms and genealogical resources used in genealogical research, how to plan an ancestral hunt, the importance of learning the history of the community and county during a specific time period and demonstrate how the library can assist in the ancestral hunt.
