Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ellison Assisted Living conducting food drive

MARIETTA — The Ohio State Highway Patrol Marietta Post and Ellison Assisted Living of Marietta will conduct a Holiday Food Drive 10-2 p.m. Dec. 11 at Ellison Assisted Living, 150 Browns Road.

Residents are asked to donate canned goods, non-perishable items or money to help someone in need. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Gospel Mission Food Pantry of Marietta.

Among items needed are:

* Canned vegetables

* Spaghetti and sauce

* Tuna

* Spam/Treet

* Toothpaste

* Bar soap

* Canned soup

* Dry cereal

The collection will be a drive-thru and people will not need to get out of their vehicle. All safety precautions will be taken and social distancing rules will be followed.

Hot chocolate and holiday snacks will be provided. Everyone who donates will be entered into a raffle for for prizes that include $50 gift cards, $50 restaurant gift cards and gift baskets, among others.

“With everything people have been through this year, this is just a little thing we can do to help our community out, especially for the holidays,” Sgt. D.R. Payne said.
