VIENNA — In partnership with the City of Vienna, the YMCA of Parkersburg hosted a Mud Run on Saturday.
The course, which was 1.25 miles long, stretched from the wooded area behind the Vienna Rec Center and Jackson Middle School.
Kids and adults were welcome to join in the fun.
“It was a lot of fun and definitely really muddy,” said Isabella Guinn, 8, who ran two laps with her parents.
The Adult Division ran the course twice for a total of 2.5 miles, while the Youth Division ran the course once, unless they wanted to run both for fun.

According to Criss Welshans, Senior Program Director at the YMCA, over 120 people took part in the race, and some even drove in from out of town to enjoy the day.
“It was definitely a lot of fun,” said Brittany Smith, who drove in from Creston, W.Va., to run the race.
Smith said if runners were out of shape, parts of the trek could be pretty tough, but that she would love to do it again.
According to Welshans, the YMCA does plan to make this an annual event.
The cost was $24 for members of the YMCA and $30 for non-members.

Welshans said the funds collected will go toward the YMCA’s summer camp scholarships and community events.
The race was split up into separate groups, allowing for safety during course obstacles.
Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded to a male and female in each age division, totaling out to 12 winners.
