PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Democratic Party is thanking the community for a successful food drive on April 10 for the Jefferson Elementary Center.

The drive was a resounding success, according to Judy Stephens, chair of the Democratic Party.

“We were inspired to step up when we saw how hard the pandemic hit pantries,” Stephens said. “With people not being able to get out or work due to the pandemic it’s up to organizations like the Democrats to step up and fill the need.”

The food drive lasted four hours and often had a line of vehicles waiting to be unloaded.

“It was amazing to see how many vehicles showed up to the event. We were safely unloading donations one after the other,” Simon Hargus, vice chair, said. “The community was so generous to these kids.”
