First Lutheran Church hosting Stations of the Cross all week
PARKERSBURG — First Lutheran Church, 1709 19th St., started the 14 Stations of the Cross in the parking lot adjacent to the church on Monday, which will continue through Easter.
The Stations of the Cross Walk is among the most popular devotions of the Lenten and Easter season, helping Christians make a spiritual pilgrimage through contemplation of the Passion of Christ. Visitors are invited to take their time, stop, reflect and pray as they make their way through the path depicting Jesus’ walk.
The stations begin at the bright sign on the left side of the parking lot, proceeding around the outside of the lot, and can be viewed by either walking or driving through the lot.
Also known as the Way of Sorrows, Sr. Pastor Ian Reid said this is the second year the Stations of the Cross has been available at First Lutheran. The walk includes images depicting the events along the path Jesus walked to his crucifixion.
Becca Reid has again prepared the images and information that will be displayed for this year’s walk through the stations.
At noon April 2, Reid will do an in-person walk and talk through the stations. He invites everyone to join him when he will present a special narration of the stations and relate some personal experiences from his visit to the Holy Land last year.
