Registrations open for Parkersburg YMCA’s Indoor Triathlon
PARKERSBURG — The YMCA of Parkersburg is taking registrations first its Indoor Triathlon to be held in February and March.
Two divisions will be offered: youth 12-17 and adults 18 and over. Both will compete in one-hour timed segments of lap swimming, stationary cycling and treadmill running.
To maintain social distancing, each competition time permits a maximum of four people. Times are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants must select a time interval on one of the four days in the contest:
* Feb. 27, 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m.
* Feb. 28, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m.
* March 6, 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m.
* March 7, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m.
T-shirts will be given to all participants. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to both male and female winners of each division. Upon completion of the final competition time on March 7, all winners will be contacted and requested to return to the YMCA for the medal ceremony.
Those who pre-register for the Indoor Triathlon will receive free triathlon training classes until the launch of the event. Classes are held 8 a.m. Tuesdays and 5 p.m. Thursdays. All classes are led by Michaela Piendel, the YMCA personal trainer.
The entry fee for the Indoor Triathlon is the same for both Youth and Adult Divisions. YMCA members receive a discounted rate of $24 while the fee for non-members is $30.
