WASHINGTON, W.Va. — DuPont has given $27,000 to the United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley.

The donation comes during a difficult year for the campaign, according to Stacy DeCicco, executive director of the United Way Alliance.

“Dupont continues to be a philanthropic leader in our community,” DeCicco said. “Their management team has led by example once again, in the midst of what is a very challenging campaign year.”

Plant Manager John Kovaleski has repeatedly demonstrated a personal commitment to the Mid-Ohio Valley since arriving at the local facility, DeCicco said.

“The employees at Washington Works have a 70-plus year history of generously giving of their time and resources to make our community a better place to live,” Kovaleski said.

The corporate contribution is in addition to what employees give, he said.

“We’re proud to provide a corporate contribution to the United Way. I have been a long-time United Way supporter in other communities where I have lived and worked. I know firsthand the value of that collective impact,” Kovaleski said. “I was thrilled to step into a position where United Way is integral part of the community and already had a strong partnership with this company, I look forward to continuing to grow that relationship and make critical impact for the Mid-Ohio Valley.”

DeCicco was appreciative of the contribution.

“I say it often, and I mean it so completely, strong partners help us ensure that we are building a strong community. We are doing such impactful work in this community, even through such a challenging time, but those things are not possible without the support of our local partners,” DeCicco said.

“Dupont is a long standing partner that has supported our mission for decades. They are generous donors, willing volunteers and enthusiastic advocates,” she said. “We are humbled that they choose to commit so much of their charitable efforts and energies to our organization.”
