MARIETTA — The Mid-Ohio Valley Players Youth Theater will present its first streaming show, “Gothic Ghost Stories” by Lindsay Price, at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Presented through a grant from the Marietta Welfare League, tickets are $8 available at https://movp.booktix.com/. Click on view performances and purchase tickets.

The show, which features an all-female cast in two acts, includes eight ghost stories about murdered twins, a gypsy’s lost heart, evil in a painting and a girl and her mother frozen to death, among others.

Produced with permission of Theatrefolk, the production has given area youth a chance to have a creative outlet and hone their theatrical skills while remaining safe by adhering to safety protocols, according to Director J.R. Wells.

“It has been a challenge. We do temperature and health checks each night before rehearsal, everyone on stage performs wearing face shields, and everyone off stage is masked,” Wells said. “We social distance, promote hand washing, and sanitize everything.”

The Youth Theater program involves children in 6th through 12th grades.

Earlier this summer, the Youth Theater and Junior Players joined for their own version of WMOVP Radio Theater, the Mid-Ohio Valley Players initiative because of the pandemic restrictions on live theater, with a special production of a classic episode of the radio classic “Archie Andrews.” While it provided them a chance to try out new technology and work on voice and facial reactions, they missed the opportunity to be on stage.

“We had a blast this summer working with the kids on the radio show, but being back in the theatre has given us a chance to add movement, blocking, and advanced vocal skills back into the mix of the educational aspects of acting,” Assistant Director Tim Tuten, said. The kids have had to really work on projecting their voices and articulation with the face shields on.”

Tickets are on sale for the online viewing and a link to view the performance will be emailed closer to the show date to the address provided at time of purchase. Tickets are $8 for all ages.

The cast includes: Anna Crock, Bridget Crock, Ella Hess, Alyssa Kirkbride, Vanessa Mackey, Chase Myers, Maeghan O’Neil, Addison Parks, Chloe Patterson, Ella Patterson, Lillian Phelps, Kaelynn Seebaugh, Kenzie Smith, Lyanna Smith, Audrey Space and Brittany Ward.
