Wood County Christian School crowns court
PARKERSBURG — Wood County Christian School held its Homecoming Coronation ceremony Sept. 26 at Muskingum Park in Marietta.
Sarah Pickrell, daughter of Eric and Chevonne Pickrell of Marietta, was crowned the 2020 Homecoming Queen. Jesse Woomer, son of Tom and Brenda Woomer of Marietta, was crowned the 2020 Homecoming King.
Pickrell is a member of Student Council and Worship Team, gives voice lessons and enjoys art and reading and attends Lighthouse Baptist Church. After graduation, Pickrell plans to attend Cedarville University.
She attends Lighthouse Baptist Church. Her favorite Bible verse is John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” The school has been a wonderful place for her to grow spiritually and strengthen her Christian worldview.
Woomer attends Reno Christian Church. His favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 10:23, “O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” The school means quality conservative Christian education with a caring family environment.
Woomer is the son of Tom and Brenda Woomer of Marietta. He is Student Body president, helps with the sound crew and is a member of the soccer, basketball, baseball, cross country and track teams.
He also is a member of the Warren Wranglers 4-H club. He was the senior division winner in Duck Showmanship at the Barlow Fair.
After graduation, he plans to attend college to study nursing or physical therapy.
Homecoming court representatives were: 9th Grade, Sophie Thibault and Curtis McSherry; 10th Grade – Sophie Dougherty and Jeremy Stoia; 11th Grade, Sydney Gentry and Tyler Lanham.
Homecoming Queen candidates were: Sarah Brooker, daughter of Ron and Kim Brooker of Williamstown; Meagan Elliott, daughter of Ryan and Kara Elliott of Marietta; Abby Hicks, daughter of Jennifer Hicks of Marietta; Sarah Michael, daughter of Matt and Patty Michael of Parkersburg; Ellie Powell, daughter of Steve and Jennifer Powell of St. Marys.
Homecoming King candidates were: Ben Ferrebee, son of Walter and Cheryl Ferrebee of Williamstown; Bear Wix, son of Craig and Lisa Wix of Parkersburg.
Following the homecoming court festivities, students enjoyed a formal dinner cruise on the Valley Gem.
