Good Sams set camp out for Oct. 4-11
PARKERSBURG — The Wild Wonderful Camping chapter of the West Virginia Good Sams will hold its next camp out Oct. 4-11 at Scenic Hills RV Park in Berlin, Ohio.
The last camp out was Sept. 11-13 at Holly Grey Park in Flatwoods, W.Va.
The Wild Wonderful Camping chapter of the West Virginia Good Sams was chartered in 1972 and is the oldest chapter in the state in the Good Sam organization. The chapter is based in Parkersburg and is one of five chapters of the West Virginia Good Sam.
The chapter camps monthly during the season and in the winter meets for meals and games to stay connected.
It recently made 36 blessing bags for WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center. Its next community service project is gathering new throws for residents of the hospital who are in need.
Many of the Wild Wonderful are second and third generation to the chapter. Debbie Marks is chapter president. She and her mother Violet Smith have been camping with the chapter for many years. Sometimes they are joined by Debbie’s brother Terry sand Debbie’s son Donald. Violet has been camping with the group for over 40 years and is the most senior member of the chapter.
Sharon and Steve McCoy have been members of the group about five years. Their daughter, Sheree Bryan and Sheree’s twin daughters Brooklyn and Savannah, also camp with the group.
Johnny and Jennifer Nolan have camped with the group about three years. Their son, Trenton, often camps with the group and calls bingo.
