Miss West Virginia Pageant moves to Williamstown
WILLIAMSTOWN — Philippine’s Best LLC in Williamstown will hosting the Miss West Virginia Pageant on Saturday.
The decision was made after Charleston Civic Center announced the pageant could not be held there because of the pandemic, according to pageant producer Chelsi Rose. Rose is a native of Williamstown.
“It was a very last minute cancelation and left us with a short notice and nowhere to hold it,” said Rose.
The pageant will be held above the boat ramp in Williamstown at 5:30 p.m. Parking is available in the restaurant lot.
The boat ramp will sill be accessible for those planning to be on the river Saturday evening.
Ticket sales will be $35 at the gate, and those funds will help send the eight winners to Las Vegas in September to represent their divisions in the Miss United States Pageant.
“We are not limiting ticket sales, but everyone is asked to bring their own chairs,” said Rose.
This is not considered a social gathering and therefore is allowed with social distancing, because the money earned is essential to the pageant business, Rose said.
