Mid-Ohio Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s still in the works

PARKERSBURG — Planning continues on the 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in the Mid-Ohio Valley that is planned for Sept. 19, according to the planning committee.

Officials in Marietta, Parkersburg and Vienna declared June to be Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month. The committee, which thanks those raising money and awareness in the fight against Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementia, is grateful for Marietta Mayor Josh Schlicher, Parkersburg Mayor Tom Joyce and Vienna Mayor Randall Rapp and the city councils they represent.

The committee would also like to recognize the local sponsors of the Sept. 19 walk. Sponsors include Comfort Keepers of the Mid-Ohio Valley, Piggly Wiggly, Eagle Pointe, the Mid-Ohio Valley Association of Government Accountants and Vince and Shelley Stollar. National sponsors include Edward Jones offices and CVS.

The walk will be held everywhere this year.

To ensure the safety of participants, walkers won’t physically gather as a large group on Sept. 19. Instead, on participants will walk on their own, with their team or family, while others are doing the same.
