Downtown Throwdown BBQ and Brewfest canceled

Staff Report

PARKERSBURG — The executive committee for Downtown PKB has canceled the 2020 Downtown Throwdown BBQ and Brewfest because of the pandemic restrictions on fairs and festivals, officials said on Wednesday.

The Throwdown, which was scheduled for September, is a fundraiser with the Parkersburg Area Jaycees, which has partnered with Downtown PKB for five years to present the BBQ and beer festival to the community.

“On behalf of the Parkersburg-Area Jaycees, we are deeply saddened by the cancellation of the annual Downtown Throwdown event,” Isaac L. Snuffer, president of the Parkersburg-Area Jaycees, said.

In light of the well being of the community, Snuffer said he supported the “difficult decision” of the Downtown PKB administration to cancel the event.

“We look forward to continuing in our partnership in other ways throughout 2020 and again next year at the 2021 Downtown Throwdown,” Snuffer said. “To anyone in the public who wishes to support our organizations and the causes we represent with financial contributions or by volunteering your time, or to learn more about our contributions to the Mid-Ohio Valley, please reach out to me with the Parkersburg-Area Jaycees or Wendy (Shriver) with Downtown PKB for more information.”

Downtown PKB is exploring other event options while watching and adhering to the on-going guidelines set forth by the governor’s office.
