Humane Society of Parkersburg to hold drive thru vaccine clinic
PARKERSBURG — The Humane Society of Parkersburg will hold a special drive thru vaccine clinic from 8 a.m. to noon June 6 in the horseshoe at Parkersburg High School, 2101 Dudley Ave.
Canine and feline vaccines will be available ranging in cost from $15-25. No testing will be offered at this special off-site clinic. Additional low-cost services such as microchipping, flea treatments and flea collars, also will be available.
Participants are encouraged to print and complete the required paperwork in advance of the event to reduce waiting time, found on the Humane Society’s website, hsop.org. Forms may be completed the day of the event, but will require an additional wait.
The vaccine clinic will serve as the kick-off for the 27th Annual Elinor K. Ross Walk Your Paws-Virtual Edition. The annual fundraiser has been converted to a virtual event due to limitations on large crowds. Information on the walk and how to register will be available on the organization’s website at hsop.org and Facebook pages on June 6. The theme for the walk is PAWS-itively Woodstock.
The now-virtual walk will be website based, with opportunities for individuals to be part of fundraising for HSOP, said executive director Gary McIntyre. “There will be incentives for those who raise over certain dollar amounts and throughout the week, we will supplement the website activities with a variety of photo and video clip exercises and other daily contests.”
The fundraiser’s website will go live June 6 and will be open for fundraising through June 26.
Prizes will be given to the individual and teams who raise the most money, as well as each of the daily contest winners. These winners will be announced at the Humane Society’s “virtual party,” which will be streamed live from the shelter from 11 a.m. to noon June 27.
The walk is the largest fundraising event for the shelter each year.
