February bringing performances to Mid-Ohio Valley theaters

New York Voices

PARKERSBURG — A variety of performances will be featured in February at the Smoot Theatre in downtown Parkersburg and Peoples Bank Theatre in downtown Marietta.

* In Parkersburg, New York Voices will be presented at 8 p.m. Feb. 14 on the Smoot stage.

Tickets are $30-$40 for adults and $20 for students.

New York Voices is an internationally acclaimed jazz vocal group.

Easton Corbin

The year 2019 marked the New York Voices’ 31st anniversary and they show no signs of slowing down.

The group is known for its close-knit voicings, inspired arrangements and unparalleled vocal blend.

* In Marietta, Peoples Bank Theatre will close out the month of January with a show by Josh Turner at 8 p.m. Jan. 30. Tickets are $69 to $119.

A country artist, Turner is known for his rich, deep voice and distinctive style. From his 2003 Platinum-selling debut Long Black Train to his 2017 Billboard No. 1 release, Deep South, Turner has scored multiple Grammy, CMA and ACM Awards nominations and received six Inspirational Country Music Awards.

As one of the youngest members inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, Turner has sold more than 8 million units, topped more than 1.5 billion in global streaming and populated radio with such hits as “Hometown Girl,” “Would You Go With Me,” “Your Man,” “Time Is Love,” “Why Don’t We Just Dance” and “Long Black Train.”

The Russian Ballet

* In Marietta, the Esbenshade Series at Marietta College will present the Russian National Ballet at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 6 at Peoples Bank Theatre.

Admission is free to all Esbenshade presentations. The Russian National Ballet has been bringing timeless ballet classics to the stages of North America since 1999.

Founded in Moscow during the transitional period of Perestroika in the late 1980s, the company used its new-found creative freedom, influenced by the political movement, to invigorate the tradition of Russian Ballet with new developments in dance from around the world.

* The Fab Four will perform at 8 p.m. Feb. 20 on the Peoples Bank Theatre stage in Marietta. Tickets are $39 to $113.

The Fab Four-The Ultimate Tribute is an Emmy Award winning group known for its precise attention to detail. The group covers hits such as “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “Yesterday,” “A Day In The Life,” “Twist And Shout,” “Here Comes The Sun” and “Hey Jude.”

* The final performance of February in Marietta will be country musician Easton Corbin at 8 p.m. Feb. 21. Tickets range from $39 to $99.

With two No. 1 singles, four Top 5 singles, multiple awards and nominations, performances on some of the biggest stages in the world, Corbin has made a lasting impression on the country music landscape. He is lauded for his traditional country sound, authentic lyrics and mastery of understatement.

Corbin is known for his signature hits, including “A Little More Country Than That,” “Roll With It,” “Lovin’ You Is Fun,” and “Baby Be My Love Song” from his No. 1 debuting album About To Get Real, and his emotional “Are You With Me” was the most added song at radio the day it was released.
