Smoot Hometown Christmas

PARKERSBURG — The Smoot Theatre will hold its annual Hometown Christmas at 8 p.m. Friday at the theatre at 213 Fifth St. Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for students and are available by calling 304-422-PLAY (7529) or at smoottheatre.com. The concert features Christmas music by the Smoot House Band and other guest performers. New this Christmas will be the Gentlemen of Note, conducted by Jean Singer. This is a new male vocal group who will be making their first appearance at the Smoot.

Kids Night Out

PARKERSBURG — The YMCA of Parkersburg will hold a Kids Night Out from 6:30-10 p.m. Friday at 1800 30th St. The program is for children kindergarten through eight grades. The cost is $15 for the first child and $10 for siblings for member and $20 and $10 for non-members. There will be swimming, crafts, gym activities, a movie and more. Ballet production

MARIETTA — The Mid-Ohio Valley Ballet Company will present “The Nutcracker” at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Marietta High School Auditorium. Tickets are available at the MOVB Offices, 1311 Ann St., Parkersburg, where box office hours are 4:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Tickets will also be available at the door. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children under 16 and seniors over 60.

History program

MARIETTA — The next Brown Baggin’ Thru History will be noon Friday at Campus Martius Museum. The program is free due to support of the Washington County Public Library. The guest speaker will be Carolina Alvarez Lang, who portrays Frances Gage. She is also known locally for portraying Margaret Blennerhassett.

Handbell Concert

PARKERSBURG — The Mid Ohio Valley Ringers, a community handbell ensemble, will present its annual Christmas concert “Silver Bells” at 4 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1710 23rd St. There is no admission but free-will offerings will be accepted to help offset expenses. The concert will celebrate the group’s 25th anniversary. It will include many Christmas favorites, including “The First Noel,” “Little Saint Nick,” “Bell Carol Fantasy” and “Stille Nacht.” The Mid Ohio Valley Ringers are a bronze level ensemble, composed of advanced handbell ringers.

Model Train Club Open House

PARKERSBURG — The Mid-Ohio Valley Model Railroad Club will host its annual Christmas Open House from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the club facility, located in the rear basement of NOE Office Equipment at 610 Green Street. As part of Winterfest, trains will be running in HO, O, N, S, G and Z scales. Admission and parking are free. A raffle will be conducted for an HO train set.

Artsbridge Art Exhibit

PARKERSBURG — The Easel Does It Art Club and local artist Erin McKown are having an art exhibit opening and sale from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Artsbridge, 925 Market St. Most of the artwork is for sale and the mediums include ceramics, oils, watercolors, pencils, and acrylics. There will be several original pieces and some prints available. Light refreshments will be served.

Library Open House

VIENNA — The Vienna Public Library, 2300 River Road, will kick-off the holiday season with its sixth annual Holiday Open House at 2300 River Road on Saturday during the Vienna Holly Days Christmas Parade. The parade begins at 11 a.m. along Grand Central Avenue from 47th to 23rd streets. After the parade at 12:30 pm, visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy a special story-time with guest appearance by Mrs. Claus reading the holiday classic “The Night Before Christmas” while visitors enjoy hot chocolate and cookies provided by the Friends of the Vienna Public Library.

Sale

PARKERSBURG — An inside sale will be held at 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Beechwood Presbyterian Church, 703 30th St., Admission is free. Various items will be sold, including Christmas tree and decorations. All proceeds will be used to stock the food pantry.

Pet photos

BELPRE — “Paws with Claus for a Cause” pet photos with Santa will be held at 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Belpre Volunteer Fire Department Bingo Hall. The cost is $10-$15 depending on the number of pets. Proceeds benefit The Max Fund, a local animal rescue program.

Concert

MCCONNELSVILLE — Dion Pride, son of country legend Charlie Prise, will perform during the Ohio Valley Opry Twin City Christmas show on Saturday at the Twin City Opera House. Also appearing on the show will be Jimmy Howson and the Ohio Valley Opry regulars- The Clark Family, Matt Coleman, Beth Sigler-Bigham, Mike Morrison, and comedian Uncle Doofus. PARKERSBURG — The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra-Parkersburg will present “Sounds of the Season” at 3 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium at Blennerhassett School on Jewell Road. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students. PARKERSBURG — American Legion Riders Post 15 will hold a Christmas auction at 2 p.m. Sunday at American Legion Post 15, 2505 Ohio Ave. Doors open at 1 p.m. The event is open to the public. Proceeds benefit charities.

Moose Senior Dance and Dinner

PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg Moose Lodge will host the monthly Senior Dance and Dinner from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Lodge on W.Va. 95.
