Artsbridge seeks original artwork
PARKERSBURG — Artsbridge will hold a Winter Solstice Night, “Art After Dark,” which will include an exhibit of original visual and expressive artwork that shows how people, including themselves, have gotten through hard, difficult times.
That might mean physical or mental health diagnoses, addictions, losses, relationships that break down, unemployment, racism, disasters or violence. Entrants don’t have to be a professional artist and just have to be willing to share how art has expressed or given them strength to cope.
Entries are due today and may be visual (painting, photography, sculpture) or expressive (music, poetry) works of art. Bring or mail entries by today to 925 Market Street, P.O. Box 1706, Parkersburg, WV 26101. For more information, call Artsbridge at 304 428-3988.
“Art After Dark” begins 5:30 p.m. Dec. 21 with an art exhibit followed by traditional and non-traditional longest night programs, opportunities to create original visual and expressive art and an open mike.
The program ends at midnight with a candlelight offering of hope for the new year. This is a family friendly event and everyone is welcome to stay for the entire evening, or head for home when you like.
A Facebook event page, “Art After Dark,” will provide updates and more information and the schedule. Posts also are on the Artsbridge Facebook page.
