Lions Halloween run raises money for eyeglasses

PARKERSBURG — Results have been posted for the Parkersburg Lions Club’s Halloween 5K Run/Walk for Sight on Oct. 26 at City Park.

The fastest overall time by a male was turned in by Robert Boston of Parkersburg, who ran the 5K course in 21:42.23. The fastest overall time by a female was recorded by Holly Martin of Parkersburg, who completed the course in 22:31.96.

Medals for runners were given to the top female under 12, Hadley Edwards, Parkersburg (31:12.05); top male under 12, Gatlin McLain (22:04.66); top two females 20-39, Lindsay Hill, Parkersburg (31:14.30) and Alexa Mattson (31:59.03); top two males 20-39, Kyle Parks, Fleming, (23:29.77), and Jordan Meloh, Williamstown (28:40.28); top female 40-59, Frances Wymbs, Athens, (25:44:17); top two males 40-59, Breck Martin, Vienna (23:09.03) and Brad King, Stanford, Ky., (23:34.75); and top two males 60 and over, Russ Webster, Vincent, (28:55.70) and Donald Lane, Marietta (32:32.20).

Medals for walkers were given to the top two females 20-39, Lauren Queen, Parkersburg (36:17.14) and Ashley Gates (36:45.75); top two females 40-59, Vicki Williams, Vienna (37:51.94) and Patty Metz, Belpre (44:09.82); top two males 40-59, Scott Simonton, St. Marys (49:15.28) and Ken Storey, Vienna (53:07.22); top female 60 and over, Sandy Colvin, Belpre (43:41.95); and top two males 60 and over, Ray Poling, Vienna (32:33.08) and Randy Nutter, St. Marys (37:54.70).

Two trophies were given for “Best Costume.” All runners and walkers received specially designed race T-shirts, and there were several door prizes.

This was the fourth year for the Halloween 5K Fun Run/Walk sponsored by the Parkersburg Lions Club, which uses the money in its program to assist low-income persons who need eyeglasses.
