Wood County BOE meets today
PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Board of Education will receive a presentation on area libraries and discuss student parking rates in a regular session at 6 p.m. today at the central office, 13th and Plum streets.
The meeting is open to the public.
The school board will receive a presentation on the Parkersburg-Wood County Public Library from Director Brian Raitz.
The board will have a discussion on student parking. At a recent meeting, board members expressed concerns over the variation in prices for students to rent parking spaces at the district’s three high schools and asked for an accounting of how those funds are used.
The board tonight will be asked to approve the purchase of three buses at a cost of $287,958 using state aid earmarked for bus replacement.
The board also will be asked to approve an “unpaid employee suspension.” Additional details were not immediately available.
In addition to those items, the board will have recognitions for high schools which met standards on state graduation rates and the top three highest-scoring students on the SAT exam.
