BELPRE — The Belpre Apple Butter Stir Off has celebrated fall for 41 years in Belpre.

This year’s event will be held at Civitan Park from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday with concessions, crafters and vendors, live entertainment and activities.

After many years at Howes Grove Park, the Stir Off moved in 2017 to Civitan Park and the change in venue has been positive, organizers said. The change in venue provided more space for activities, exhibits and parking.

“We hope the community will come out and support the stir off,” Deborah Marshall, stir off chairman, said.

Proceeds go to support good causes.

A variety of activities will be featured at this year’s Stir Off, including apple butter making, crafts, vendors, entertainment, train rides, a children’s area and pageants for babies and canines.

Final details were being worked on leading up to the event, but organizers are hoping to bring back the pie eating contest with local law enforcement and high school football players.

The Apple of Your Eye Pageant is returning this weekend at 11 a.m. Saturday. It is open to girls from the age of 4 to 16 who live within a 30 mile radius of Belpre.

The Belpre Women’s Club will hold its fifth annual Canine Companion Costume Contest at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

On Sunday, a Pretty Baby Contest will be held at 2 p.m. Pre-registration is $25 by going to the Belpre Lions Event Page on Facebook. The cost is $30 at the park between noon and 1 p.m. Sunday.

Belpre Presbyterian Church and Boy Scout Troop 91 will be cooking apple butter over an open fire.
