National Night Out is an annual event that is celebrated on the second Tuesday of August in thousands of communities. The purpose of National Night Out is to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and the community. The Parkersburg Police and Fire Departments held the event at the City Park pool. The Wood County Sheriff’s Department and the Lubeck Volunteer Fire Department held an event at the fire station in Lubeck. Both events were free and lasted from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
