PARKERSBURG — Elvis tribute artist Jim Forshey will perform at 7 p.m. Friday on the Al Smith Stage at Southwood Park. Admission is free. This show was rescheduled from a previously reported date due to conflict in scheduling.

5K event

ST. MARYS — The Pleasants County Library will hold a 5K Book It Run & Walk, rain or shine, at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Pre-race registration gets under way at the library at 5:30 p.m. Donations are welcome, and all proceeds go to the Pleasants County Library. Registration is $20. There are a limited number of shirts available. There will be awards for overall and age group winners of runners and walkers divisions. Walkers who run will be disqualified. Flag dedication

WILLIAMSTOWN — The Williamstown Lions Club is hosting its second annual Flags for Heroes in Tomlinson Park from Saturday through July 7. The dedication ceremony will be noon Saturday. Flags are sponsored in honor of heroes (teachers, clergy, veterans, etc) at $50 a flag. All proceeds benefit new wheelchair accessible playground equipment in the park.

Memoir Writing Workshop

PARKERSBURG — An Introduction to Memoir Workshop will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the South Parkersburg Library, 1807 Blizzard Drive.

The workshop is free and open to all who have an interest in writing about their life events in a welcoming and interactive atmosphere. Writing prompts and additional handouts are provided.

Workshop leader Lois Spencer is a local writer and adjunct instructor of English at Ohio Valley University. Her previous workshops include classes at Marietta College’s Institute for Learning in Retirement and as an on-going series through Morgan County Community of the Arts in McConnelsville, Ohio.
