Sour Mash Open accepting applications
PARKERSBURG — Applications are being accepted until July 1 for grants from the Sour Mash Open golf tournament presented by the Parkersburg Rotary Club and the Wood County Rotary Club.
The 48th annual tournament will be held July 15 at the Parkersburg Country Club where Ladies Professional Golf Association star Brittany Lincicome will be the featured pro.
The tournament is among the biggest fundraiser organized by the Parkersburg Rotary Club, which celebrated its centennial anniversary on March 1.
In its inaugural year in 1972, the tournament raised $2,950. As of the 2018 tournament, the Sour Mash raised more than $800,000 for charities and causes in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Last year’s recipients were SW Resources, Eve Inc., the Gabriel Project and the Parkersburg Coalition for the Homeless, which are ineligible for 2019 funding.
The application, available from Rotary, requests basic organization information, such as contact person, project timetable and the estimated cost of the project, the amount requested and the purpose of the grant and if the amount requested is less than the total, how the difference will be made up. Grants are for capital improvement projects only and not operating expenses.
The application also requires identification of the current board of directors annual report, documentation of the 501 c(3) tax exempt status, and the application.
Applications are to be mailed to Sour Mash, P.O. Box 11, Parkersburg, WV 26102. Also send an electronic copy to email@example.com.
